The Lighthouse is an organised, self-managed, grassoots initiative dedicated to the safety, wellbeing and sustainable evolution of the community in the Sacred Valley, our home.
We support community life across multiple dimensions, including ethical, cultural, and professional orientation, environmental stewardship, and responsible livelihood development.
Why We’re Here
As more people visit and settle in the Sacred Valley, the community continues to grow in diversity, activity, and complexity. While this can be highly valuable, it also includes initiatives driven primarily by extractive interests, often with little consideration for environmental impact, ethical responsibility, or the wellbeing of local residents.
The Lighthouse emerges as a present and future-oriented response to the lack of a shared, coordinated space in which community members can express concerns, address challenges, and develop practical, sustainable solutions together.
In particular, plant medicine practices have raised increasing concern, with growing reports of harm, abuse, and misconduct, alongside a persistent lack of accountability and meaningful response.
Vision
A harmonious Sacred Valley where people and nature thrive together in respect, safety, and shared stewardship.
Mission
Our mission is to support a thriving, resilient community rooted in care for the land and for one another.
How Can We Help
The Lighthouse serves as a supportive hub for life in Sacred Valley by centralising efforts and resources to address human needs natural to community living.
We act as a point of contact for both locals and newcomers seeking help or guidance around integrating into local life and culture.
Our Activities Includes:
- Creating educational and informative resources as the first preventive line of protection and harm reduction.
- Developing a clear legal and ethical framework, with conscious jurisdictional awareness.
- Defining core pillars of action informed by daily life in the Valley.
- Designing self-report tools to support individuals in situations of harm or abuse.
- Providing coordinated support and, when appropriate, direct intervention in emergencies in collaboration with relevant professionals and authorities.
- Bridging Sacred Valley with other conscious communities across the globe.
- Holding regular meetings to address emerging issues, and to continue developing The Lighthouse as a self-governed entity.
